It's no exaggeration to say the Vancouver
Convention & Exhibition Centre is
really blossoming as an international convention
venue these days-and what better evidence
than the role that Vancouver Rose Society
members Brenda Viney and Darlene Sanders played in bringing the World Federation of
Rose Societies Convention here in 2009!
Together, they presented a bid for this
prestigious event at the 2003 Convention
in Glasgow, and came away with a win for
Vancouver. The result will be over 1500
delegates and a new event feature-a three day
rose exposition that will be open to the public.
Brenda and Darlene's success underlines the
important benefits that these kinds of events
deliver. The convention itself will generate
over $4 million in local economic benefits
based on delegate spending. At the same
time, it will bring a world of expertise in this
specialized area to our doorstep where it can
be shared with the entire community.
Here at the Vancouver Convention &
Exhibition Centre, we salute Brenda and
Darlene and others like them whose efforts in
bringing in such events benefit everyone in the
community. We want them to know that their
work is appreciated - and that we're here to
support their initiatives in every way we can.
